I Wish TVW Was Ready. They Teased Us

TVW Scout Not Ready For Prime Time

There is what looks like a great new feature from our friends over at TVW. Since it does not work yet, I can only say it looks like it will match their video and audio archive with bill numbers and even keywords, package it up, and send it to you. Many less-than-ambitious lobbyists will be able to create the perception to their clients that they are actually at the hearings even though they sitting in their offices, glued to informative blogs (WSW.com), leg.wa.gov and TVW, creating incredible reports while their opponents count votes.

I've tried "Scout" for a few days. After waiting for my “scout” to recognize me as an “agent” by scanning my “targets” there is still no “distribution”. The folks at TVW were kind enough to return calls today and tell me they are not quite ready.

In an era of high demand, participatory audiences, and peak expectation of TVW's otherwise seamless, mindless, hyper easy, user friendly site, this tardiness begs the question: Should they have gone alpha before the perfected the beta?

The world probably does not care. What they are going to offer is so cool.

Sign in, create and “agent” (that's you) and take it for a test run at the tutorial site here: http://scout.tvw.org/inner-page

BTW, what's with all the CIA/NSA jargon? I hope the next mark is an asset we can all use. It's hell being RED.

Shades of the 25th Month! – House Democratic Proposal Balances Budget by Borrowing $400 Million From Future
By: Erik Smith | Washington State Wire | Feb. 21, 2012

House Democrats announced their new budget strategy Tuesday, and it’s starting to look quite a bit like an old one – a budget gimmick known as the “25th month” that makes old-timers shudder in horror. The budget proposal pays off an old loan in the current budget by taking out a new one, and quadruples the borrowing.

Democrat Hanauer on Education: McKenna is On Right Track, We Are Not
By: PubliCola | Feb. 21, 2012

The war of words on Seattle's PubliCola website is escalating as prominent "progressive" financier Nick Hanauer rips the Washington Education Association for its opposition to education reform. Says Hanauer: "The WEA’s efforts to stop any of the changes needed to transform our system puts you and the politicians who support and enable this intransigence on the wrong side of kids, families and history."

How Serious Is The Caucus Management Issue In The Senate? A Lot Of Noise, No Movement
By: Jim Boldt | Washington State Wire | 02.06.12

One caucus, a split caucus, two caucuses, weak Rs or strong creative R's ...it will not matter. Taxes are going to go on the ballot, creativity will be smothered by "stay the course," and this majority will go out for elections with its present leadership in place.
